inspirED School Climate Assessment Grant


Meet the 2017 inspirED School Climate Assessment Grant Recipients!

We are thrilled to announce the recipients of the 2017 inspirED School Climate Assessment Grant Program, sponsored by Facebook and the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. Twelve exceptional schools and districts from around the U.S. have been selected to receive these grants in the inaugural year of the program.


The inspirED School Climate Assessment Grant invests in K-12 schools and districts that promote and care about Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and School Climate/Culture (SC). As a Grantmaker, inspirED seeks to identify and support schools and districts in measuring school climate and developing and implementing interventions that ultimately support overall wellbeing and success of young people.

Annually we will award 30 grants in the amount of up to $2,500 for each high school and up to $15,000 to support districts. Grant recipients can choose from one of our featured partners or another assessment of their choice.

Eligibility Criteria

  • U.S High School serving at least grades 9-12, but is open to schools and districts serving K-12
  • Applicant must be an authorized representative of institution’s administration

Commitment by inspirED to each grant recipient

  • Funding: Provide up to $2500 or up to $15,000 grant to support your school or district in the assessment of your school climate assessment (or a number that is contained in the $2500 grant value)
  • Program Support: Provide pathways for students and educators to use the SCA findings to drive change in their school via access to InspirED website resources
  • Community: Access to a community of school climate experts and like-minded educators, administrators and schools to help tackle challenges, share best practices, and celebrate successes

Commitment for Grant Recipient

  • Execution: Head of the educational institution (Grant POC) is willing to receive the grant, purchase assessment tools and distribute SCA to school by December 31st, 2017
  • Evaluation: The educational institution commits to deliver proof of purchase and Assessment completion rate
  • Support: To support teachers and students in taking action based on the results of the Assessment (inspirED or other programming)


  • inspirED Grant application window opens on March 13th, 2017
  • The application window closes on May 5th, 2017
  • Winners are notified by May 25th, 2017
  • Winners are announced on June 2nd, 2017
  • Award money paid by July 30th, 2017
  • Recipients select SCA Vendors by September 15th, 2017
  • School Climate Grant monies applied to select SCA vendor by November 30th, 2017
  • School Climate Assessment distributed by December 31st, 2017

  • NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO PARTICIPATE. The application period for the inspirED School Climate Assessment Grant Program by Facebook, Inc. runs from the time of announcement on March 13th, 2017, through 11:59:59 PM PT on May 5th, 2017. Open only to government-recognized educational institutions (schools or districts) that meet the eligibility requirements as set forth in the full program Terms. Void where prohibited by law. ALL PARTICIPATION AND APPLICATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO THE PROGRAM TERMS, WHICH CONTAIN, AMONG OTHER THINGS, IMPORTANT SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS, GRANT OF PUBLICITY AND OTHER RIGHTS, DEADLINES FOR GRANT RECIPIENTS, AND LIMITATIONS OF FACEBOOK’S LIABILITY. CLICK HERE FOR FULL TERMS AND CONDITIONS Judges will determine the grant recipients based on the following criteria: need for a school climate/culture program or the need to be able to measure existing program initiatives; commitment to addressing the needs identified through the SCA; and commitment to maximizing the number of participating high school students in the SCA and ensuring equitable access to all high school students in implementing the climate/culture program. The value of each grant awarded will be determined in Facebook’s sole discretion and will be no more than $2500 for an individual school and no more than $15,000 for a district.
